DENVER (AP) - Wildlife officials are warning Colorado residents to be aware of coyotes and the potential for conflicts during the next couple of months of breeding season.
The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/2i4Dd6z) Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a news release that coyotes may become more territorial as they pair off and have their puppies.
A Centennial girl was nipped by a coyote during last year’s breeding season. The department had also received reports about aggressive coyotes in Aurora and Lakewood.
Wildlife official Liza Hunholz said in a statement that pet owners should take extra care to protect their animals.
