BURLINGTON, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police say two troopers who wounded an armed suspect in Burlington after he refused to drop his weapon have been placed on administrative duty.
Sgt. Jack Goncalves and Trooper Laurie Deltorto went to a home Tuesday afternoon in response to reports that a man was threatening to harm himself.
State police say the troopers ordered 49-year-old Maciej Konferowicz (MAH’-chay con-FEHR’-oh-witz) to drop his gun. When Konferowicz allegedly aimed the firearm at them, Goncalves and Deltorto each fired at least one round.
Konferowicz was treated at the hospital and released.
On Thursday, police said he was charged with interfering with a police officer and released on $50,000 bond pending a Jan. 17 court date.
The Bristol Press reports that Konferowicz owns a New Britain restaurant and is known for his charitable work.
