BAY SHORE, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island say a 70-year-old man has been struck and killed while crossing a street.

Suffolk County police say a 29-year-old North Bay Shore woman was driving on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday when she struck a man crossing the road.

Officers say Arquimides Barrera of Bay Shore was taken to Southside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.



The driver wasn’t injured and remained at the scene. Her car has been impounded for a safety check as police continue their investigation.
