A Vietnam man’s stomach problems have finally ended now that a pair of scissors doctors left inside him in 1998 have been removed.
Ma Van Nhat, 54, was in a car crash 18 years ago that required surgery. Recent pains in his abdomen led him to undergo an ultrasound, which revealed the scissors near his colon.
A more professional group of doctors removed the six-inch tools Dec. 30 at Gang Thep Thai Nguyen hospital, which is located 50 miles north of Hanoi, Agence France-Presse reported Tuesday.
“He is recovering well,” Ngo Trung Thang, deputy head of general affairs at the hospital, told AFP.
Officials told the news agency that an investigation is underway to find the doctors who performed the initial surgery.
