MADAWASKA, Maine (AP) - The band for Madawaska Middle and High schools in Maine is going to be one of 12 bands that’ll help kick off three days of presidential inauguration events.

The Pride of Madawaska will perform at the Lincoln Memorial, in Washington, D.C., for a “Make America Great” welcome concert on Jan. 19, the day before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office.

Band Director Ben Meiklejohn says students are honored to participate.

He marched with the Kennebunk High School band in President George H.W. Bush’s inaugural parade in 1989. He tells the Portland Press Herald that part of a presidential inauguration “is an experience of a lifetime.”
