Former Maryland star Jordan Williams was arrested on Dec. 30 for his alleged involvement in an attack on a juvenile male in Torrington, Connecticut, on Thanksgiving night, according to The Register Citizen.

The victim was kidnapped, robbed and assaulted by four people at knife point, according to a police press release. The City of Torrington Police Department posted a release on its Facebook page stating the victim was kidnapped on Nov. 24 at knifepoint and his clothes and belongings were stolen. The release states  the juvenile was forced into a Torrington, Connecticut, residence and assaulted. Police said the juvenile later fled the house and found help.

Williams was one of four arrested in connection to the attack. He was charged with third-degree assault, breach of peace, third-degree strangulation and risk of injury to a minor. The former Terrapins star played for Torrington High School. He was being held on $300,000 bail.



Investigators believe the attack was related to a botched drug deal and subsequent revenge, according to The Register Citizen. The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests may be made.

Williams, a 6-foot-10 center, started 31 games as a freshman for Maryland in 2009-10 and made the All-ACC rookie team. As a sophomore, he had 13 straight double-doubles for a Maryland record, previously held by Len Bias.

Williams declared early for the NBA Draft after just two seasons in College Park He was picked by the then-New Jersey Nets in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft. He played in just 43 games as a rookie, averaging 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds. Following his rookie season, Williams was traded to the Atlanta Hawks but was later released in September.

He has also played in the Development League and professionally overseas.
