SEAFORD, Del. (AP) - A 73-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a car while crossing the road in Seaford.
Delaware police say the crash occurred just after 6 p.m. on Saturday when the man, who has not been identified, tried to cross Concord Pond Road near Orange Blossom Lane. Police say he was wearing dark clothing and wasn’t carrying a light when he stepped into the path of a Hyundai Santa Fe. Police say the motorist tried to avoid hitting the man but was unsuccessful. Police say the pedestrian was treated on scene by paramedics and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say alcohol use on the part of the pedestrian may have played a role in the crash.
