MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermonters who want to learn more about ice fishing can do so for free at the state’s annual ice fishing festival.

It takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hoyt’s Landing in Springfield.

Vermont Fish and Wildlife staff and instructors with Vermont’s Let’s Go Fishing program will to teach ice fishing basics, including how to use ice fishing equipment, tie knots and stay warm.



Ice fishing equipment will be available for use or people may bring their own.

Department staff will also cook up some of the participant’s catches at a fish fry station. Several warming huts will also be provided.
