WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - The editor of the Daily Local News in West Chester has died. Tom Murray was 54.
The newspaper reported he died Jan. 21 after being stricken ill while out to dinner with his fiancee, Terry Hardin. Hardin said the two were planning to get married on Valentine’s Day.
Murray was buried Friday during a private service.
The senior publisher of the Digital First Media group that owns the paper said Murray was an “old-school” newspaperman who also embraced change. Ed Condra said Murray “will be missed not simply because of how friendly and hardworking he was, but because he was actively helping all of us move into the 21st century.”
Murray held newspaper jobs in the Philadelphia suburbs, in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He became content manager last year for Digital First’s Main Line newspapers and the Daily Local News.
He was predeceased by his wife, Diane, and is survived by three sons.
