NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police have identified a man who was killed in a crash during a police chase.

State police say 22-year-old Vincent Fowlkes died after he lost control of a car during the chase Thursday morning and crashed into a tree in Norwalk. His passenger, 19-year-old Shawn Bowman, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Authorities say they were not wearing seat belts.

State police say a Norwalk officer was trying to make a traffic stop when the pursuit began.

At the request of Norwalk police and state prosecutors, state police are handling the investigation.
