FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in northern Arizona say a bus carrying 44 Korean tourists was stuck in mud along a remote road for eight hours during a snow storm.
State Department of Public Safety officials say the incident occurred Monday about 30 miles northwest of Flagstaff.
They say the tourists were returning from a trip to the Grand Canyon and headed to Page when the driver decided to take an alternate route on a Forest Service road that cut through the Coconino National Forest.
DPS says the driver decided to turn back toward State Route 180 when he released the alternate route was not safe and the bus then got stuck in mud about four miles northeast of the highway.
The tourists were shuttled to a command post and then to a hotel.
