President Trump plans to sign executive orders Tuesday that will revive the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipeline projects that were blocked by the Obama administration, according to sources.
The move was expected from Mr. Trump, who made reviving the projects a priority during the campaign.
Mr. Trump made the pipeline projects part of his jobs agenda.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday the pipelines were “areas that we can increase jobs, increase economic growth and tap into America’s energy supply more.”
The proposed Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to Texas and the Dakota pipeline across the heartland created a rift for President Obama between environmentalists and labor unions.
Mr. Obama ultimately sided with environmentalists, putting the kibosh on Keystone in 2015 and on the other last month..
