LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Officials say the person who was wounded in a shooting near the Arkansas Department of Health is a pharmacy student at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
The shooting happened Monday in a parking lot off Markham Street, near the health department’s offices and not far from UAMS’ campus. UAMS officials identified the victim as a student and said he is recovering at a hospital.
No arrests have been made yet in the shooting.
UAMS Chancellor Dr. Dan Rahn said in a statement that the school will enhance its security at War Memorial Stadium and other areas near campus following the shooting.
