LINDEN, N.J. (AP) - A man who was driving drunk when he struck and killed a motorcyclist has pleaded guilty to death-by-auto charges.
Union County prosecutors say Antonio Rodriguez faces a five-year state prison term when he’s sentenced March 10. The 46-year-old Linden man entered his plea Tuesday.
Authorities say the December 2015 crash occurred in Linden.
Rodriguez cut off 51-year-old motorcyclist Carlos Arce, who tried to avoid a collision. But the Elizabeth man slid off his motorcycle and into the rear of Rodriguez’s vehicle.
Arce was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prosecutors say Rodriguez had a blood-alcohol level of slightly more than twice the legal limit at the time of the accident.
