HONOLULU (AP) - Rescue crews have recovered the body of a 47-year-old woman who was apparently swept away by a flash flood on the Big Island.
Authorities say the woman had been trying to cross a river that was flowing along a driveway in Honokaa on the northern part of the island when she disappeared into the water.
Crews began looking for the woman but had to call off the search until Sunday morning.
They resumed ground and air and rescue operations and eventually located the woman’s body.
Her identity and official cause of death have not yet been released.
