Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie has been named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week for the week ending Jan. 22, per the league.
Oshie, 30, recorded three goals and three assists in three games, helping the Capitals obtain five of the possible six points.
Oshie is the third Capital in the last three weeks to be named one of the NHL’s three stars. Forward Nicklas Backstrom received First Star honors last week and goaltender Braden Holtby was named the Third Star in the prior week.
Oshie ranks second on the team in goals with 17 and fifth on the team in points, with 31 in 38 games.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Conor Sheary and Islanders goaltender Thomas Greiss were named the First and Second Stars, respectively.
Washington currently ranks first in the league in points, with 68 in just 46 games. They take on the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night.
