Sprinklers triggered by classroom fire flood classrooms

KILN, Miss. (AP) - Sprinklers triggered by a fire in a home economics classroom flooded classrooms at Hancock Middle School.

Kiln Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jamie Necaise told the Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/2jJpnp6) there were 2 to 3 inches of water on the classroom floors when the firefighters responded after getting an alert from the monitored system a little after 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Necaise said cleanup was expected to take the rest of the day, and students were sent home.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is being led by Hancock County emergency management director Brian Adam, who is the fire marshal for the county.
