CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Officials say that work on the Interstate 77 express lanes project is likely to close a southbound lane this weekend.

A news release from officials overseeing the project says that a stretch of the southbound High Occupancy Vehicle lane will be closed if weather permits. The portion is what runs between the I-85 interchange and the I-277-Brookshire Freeway interchange.

Crews are working on new pavement markings and the safety barriers.

The news release says traffic patterns could be different for months as construction progresses.
