MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Organizers say hundreds of people attended the Vermont Right to Life Committee’s annual rally in Montpelier.
The “Rally for Life” marked the anniversary of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.
Participants marched down State Street to an event at the Statehouse on Saturday, hours before a women’s march took place in the city as part of a series of protests a day after the inauguration of Republican President Donald Trump.
Bishop Christopher Coyne of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington attended the “Rally for Life” and told the Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/2k3ZoZF ) that he wanted to make sure everyone understood it was a coincidence that the march took place on the same day as the women’s march.
