CATSKILL, N.Y. (AP) - Work is set to resume on a pedestrian trail crossing the Hudson River that will link the historic homes of two famous painters.

The Hudson River SkyWalk will include a walkway across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge between Frederick Church’s Olana historic site in Columbia County and the Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill.

Cole and Church are famous for their Hudson River School paintings of majestic landscapes.

The state Bridge Authority will resume construction on the sidewalk of the bridge on Jan. 9. The $5.4 million project is part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s statewide infrastructure plan.

The Hudson River SkyWalk project was recently awarded $875,000 for Phase 2, which includes the construction of scenic lookout points.
