DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (AP) - Dauphin Island is preparing to host two of the region’s first parades of the Carnival season.
Dauphin Island Mayor Jeff Collier said in a statement that thousands of revelers are expected to descend on the island to celebrate the arrival of Mardi Gras.
Event organizers say the Krewe de la Dauphine will kick off the season when its parade rolls down Bienville Boulevard at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28.
Then, at 1 p.m. on Feb. 4, The Town of Dauphin Island will debut its newly established “People’s Parade,” also on Bienville Boulevard.
In Mobile, the birthplace of Mardi Gras, parades will begin Feb. 10.
