BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old boy has died and three other teenagers are hospitalized after the car they were in crashed into a tree along a Buffalo street.

Officials say the boy was driving on Kensington Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when the accident occurred.

The driver and three passengers, all 14-year-old girls, were taken to Erie County Medical Center, where the 17-year-old later died. His name hasn’t been released.

Officials say two of the 14-year-olds are listed in critical condition while the third is listed as stable.

Police are investigating if speed may have been a factor.
