LACONIA, N.H. (AP) - A woman has been killed in a wrong-way crash in Laconia.

Police say 88-year-old Arline Downing was behind the wheel of a car traveling the wrong way on a bypass Thursday afternoon when she crashed into a dump truck.

Authorities say the driver of the dump truck saw Downing’s car approaching and tried to swerve out of the way, but the two vehicles collided. The dump trump overturned and landed in the opposite lane.

Downing was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was not hurt.

Police are investigating whether heavy fog and rain were factors in the crash.
