JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities say an avalanche buried a 5-ton truck near Jackson as the snow continued to pile up in western Wyoming.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (https://goo.gl/UwKQxl ) multiple avalanches closed U.S. Highway 89 between Hoback and Alpine on Wednesday afternoon, and one of the slides fell onto a Lower Valley Energy bucket truck.

Driver Clay Skinner tells the newspaper he saw a large cloud of snow before the truck was hit. He and his passenger escaped without injury, but most of the truck was buried.

Wednesday marked the third straight day of snow falling in Jackson and the surrounding areas.

Area mountains had received up to 50 inches by Wednesday afternoon, and while ski resorts are enjoying the fresh snow, road crews have been taxed trying to keep up.
