STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Payne County is renewing its sales tax that provides much of the funding for roads, projects, maintenance and other expenditures.

The Stillwater News Press (https://bit.ly/2j6sDNi ) reports the renewal was approved in a special election Tuesday. The 3/8 cent sales tax has been in effect for more than 20 years, but this year voters had to consider the five aspects of the tax individually.

Each of the five parts of the tax passed. They included road and bridge improvements, the county general fund, the Payne County Exposition Center and Fair Board, the county extension center and the fire departments.
