PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire filmmaker has nearly completed a documentary chronicling life and death stories about the opioid crisis.

Michael Venn tells the Portsmouth Herald (https://bit.ly/2ikLpiV) “The Heroin Effect” is being submitted to film festivals.

Among those telling their stories is a woman in recovery who turned her concept about a Portsmouth recovery center into reality; and a Portsmouth High School graduate and recovering addict who is the co-founder of Bonfire Recovery Services.

Venn says he expects the film will offer hope, change perceptions and inspire.
