PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Former Richmond Mayoral Candidate Jack Berry is stepping into the administration in nearby Petersburg.

Local news media outlets report that Berry has been hired as interim deputy assistant manager of the financially-troubled city.

Berry finished second in the race for Richmond mayor to Levar Stoney in November.

Berry was hired by a Washington-based consulting group that Petersburg hired to help with the city’s financial crisis. WRIC-TV reports that Berry agreed to a 90-day contract with the city, but the work could turn into to a permanent job for the administration.

Clay Hamner, a contracted spokesman for the city, told The Richmond Times-Dispatch that more than a half-dozen executive level positions for the city need to be filled.
