HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Authorities say a 23-year-old man has died in a crash that left four other people injured after a driver lost control of their vehicle on Highway 12 near Avon.

The Independent Record reports (https://bit.ly/2i0Liqn ) that the name of the Missoula man who died in the Sunday collision has not yet been released.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Alicia Austin says the victim had been a passenger in a vehicle headed west on the highway. The driver of the vehicle lost control, swerved into oncoming traffic and was struck by an eastbound SUV.



The man died at the scene, about 35 miles west of Helena.

Austin says three other people in his car and the SUV driver were hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
