SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Shreveport police say an officer is on leave after a toddler in her household accidentally shot another child with the officer’s gun.
Cpl. Marcus Hines tells KTBS-TV (https://bit.ly/2kM0xWn ) that the other child was hit in the leg Tuesday night, and Cpl. Latoyia Marsden is on paid departmental leave. Hines declined to give the children’s ages or relationship to Marsden, who’s been on the force eight years.
Michael Gipson tells KSLA-TV (https://bit.ly/2kw8Ve4 ) that his 11-year-old son was shot, but he wasn’t allowed to see the boy in the hospital.
Hines did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday from The Associated Press.
He said Wednesday that the child was moved to University Hospital after arriving at another hospital by private vehicle. Hines says the injury was not considered life-threatening.
