ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management has purchased a recreation site on the Upper Colorado River from Eagle County.

The Aspen Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/2kWO1VY ) that the BLM used $526,000 from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund to acquire the property from Eagle County Open Space. The property is the Dotsero Landing Recreation Site.

The BLM and Eagle County Open Space partnered in 2011 to manage Dotsero Landing and other recreations sites on the Colorado River. Eagle County Open Space acquired the 8.25-acre parcel from a private owner in 2011.

An 85-mile stretch of the Upper Colorado River receives more than 75,000 visitors each year. Key access points like Dotsero Landing help distribute recreational use throughout the area, reducing crowding and impacts on the environment.
