PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Schools are being canceled, parking bans are being put in place and the General Assembly session is being called off ahead of a snowstorm expected to bring up to a foot of snow to Rhode Island.
Schools in communities including Providence, Warwick, Cranston and Pawtucket have been called off Thursday because of the storm, expected to start early Thursday morning.
Most of the state’s cities and towns are also implementing parking bans that begin early Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Lawmakers have canceled the Thursday afternoon sessions of the state House of Representatives and Senate and all legislative committee hearings. The next scheduled session is Tuesday.
