ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - Jurors heard few arguments during the murder trial of a southern Utah man accused of killing two women as attorneys argued over whether some defense evidence should be allowed.

The Spectrum reports (https://bit.ly/2kOBep5 ) that on Tuesday jurors heard only 30 minutes of testimony in the trial of Brandon Perry Smith. He was charged with aggravated murder after Jerrica Christensen died in a December 2010 altercation at a St. George townhome that also left another woman dead.

Smith’s attorney argued that he should be allowed to present evidence suggesting that Smith’s convicted co-defendant Paul Clifford Ashton caused Smith to killed Christensen. Prosecutors argued Ashton’s behavior isn’t relevant to the case.
