SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police have released the name of the man who died when his car struck a tractor-trailer in Springfield.
Police said Tuesday that 31-year-old city resident Jose Flores died when the Mercedes-Benz he was driving struck the rear area of the truck and became lodged under it at about 3:30 a.m. Monday.
The truck was leaving a repair shop parking lot on Cottage Street.
Flores, the vehicle’s lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not hurt.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get the car out from under the tractor-trailer.
The crash remains under investigation. Police said there were no skid marks on the street and it appeared speed was a factor.
