DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Emergency crews in New Jersey have rescued an elderly woman from a fire.

First responders were called to a house fire in Deptford Township around 3 a.m. Sunday. Police and firefighters were able to contain the blaze and rescue the 81-year-old resident. Officials say the woman’s son, who was also in the home at the time of the fire, was able to escape unharmed.

The woman was taken to Cooper University Hospital. Officials have not released her name or condition. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
