A $10 million, drive-in themed movie theater is in the works for Nashville, Variety magazine reported Monday.
Named August Moon, the 40,000-square-foot theater — enclosed within a dome — will boast the largest non-IMAX movie screen in North America, according to Variety. Patrons will enjoy their screenings in “modified classic cars” and rather than the traditional popcorn-and-soda concession stand, they will can order burgers and shakes as well as drinks from a full-service bar.
Price per ticket will vary by seating location, Variety reported, adding that customers who purchase membership can enjoy add-on perks like concession specials and seat upgrades, plus the chance to vote on theater programming.
August Moon is slated to open in the second quarter of 2018, according to Variety, which would place its debut as the summer blockbuster season goes into full swing.
“Should the attraction prove successful, its developers plan to roll out more iterations both domestically and internationally, with initial interest coming from parties in China and the United Arab Emirates,” Variety said.
