WALDORF, Md. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a woman was fatally shot in Maryland’s Charles County.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that officers were called to the Beer 4 U sports bar on Crain Highway around 1:30 a.m. Saturday for a reported shooting.
The sheriff’s office says officers found 26-year-old Miaquita Gray of Lexington Park shot once in her upper body. She was pronounced dead at a hospital. The sheriff’s office says a 24-year-old man was grazed in the leg during the shooting.
The sheriff’s office says a preliminary investigation has revealed that the male victim was initially assaulted inside the business by suspects. Authorities say that as he left the business with Gray, the suspects were in the parking lot. The sheriff’s office says one suspect fired shots.
