MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - A man accused of fatally shooting his former employer during a robbery last year has been indicted on murder charges.

David Stead, of Pemberton, also faces robbery, theft and weapons charges stemming from the July 1 slaying of Thomas Wright II inside the victim’s Tabernacle home. Stead remains jailed on $1 million cash bail.

Burlington County prosecutors say Stead went to Wright’s home to rob him but instead shot him “multiple times” in the head and neck. He then allegedly stole some cash and drove off in a rented truck Wright had been using.

Prosecutors say Wright’s father found his son’s body after the victim didn’t show up at a job site.

Stead had once worked for Wright’s masonry business.

It wasn’t known Saturday if Stead has retained an attorney.
