AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine’s annual hunting seasons for several species of game animals conclude this month.
The hunting seasons for bobcats and foxes both end in February. The bobcat hunt ends on Feb. 21 and the fox hunt ends on Feb. 28. Neither hunt has a bag limit or a possession limit.
Limited seasons for snowshoe hares and squirrels also end on the last day of the month.
Two other unusual hunting seasons end that day: The season for hunting gray squirrels via falconry and the season for hunting snowshoe hares on Vinalhaven Island. The main season for snowshoe hares extends until March 31. The main gray squirrel season ended on Dec. 31.
