CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man imprisoned for duping women out of money in a dating scheme has admitted doing it again to more than 10 women in various states, bilking them of as much as $40,000.
Patrick Giblin on Thursday pleaded guilty in federal court in Camden to traveling to launder money.
Prosecutors say the 52-year-old cultivated a rapport with women after posting ads on telephone dating services from January 2013 to December 2014. Prosecutors say he falsely claimed he wanted a relationship with the women and needed a loan to relocate to their area which he never repaid.
Giblin was sentenced in 2007 for a similar scheme and in 2015 for violating his release.
He faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and restitution when he’s sentenced.
