BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a man found dead after his SUV crashed on Interstate 59 was killed by a gunshot to the head.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/2l3p0Gb ) police were called early Friday to a wreck reported by a passing motorist on. Officers found the driver dead and windows shattered by gunfire.

Birmingham police Sgt. Michael Kennedy said the victim’s SUV stuck a roadside barrier, but the impact appeared to cause no damage or injury.



The Jefferson County coroner’s office identified the victim as 27-year-old Charles Lee Brown.

Eight homicides have been reported in Birmingham so far in 2017. One of those was ruled to be justifiable.
