LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities in Las Cruces say a man has died after a fire at an apartment.

Las Cruces police say they are withholding the name of the 67-year-old victim until his relatives can be notified.

City firefighters were dispatched to the Casa Pueblo Apartments about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

They reported flames coming from a second-floor apartment with one person still inside the residence.

Firefighters made their way to the second-floor bedroom where they located the man, who was unconscious.

Paramedics tried to revive the victim, but were unsuccessful.

He was transported to Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
