BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after one person was found dead in a fire in eastern Arkansas.

Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill says the fire broke out at a home at about 3 a.m. Monday. He tells Jonesboro television station KAIT (https://bit.ly/2mwrIVw ) that one person was found dead in the fire.

The person’s body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy and identification.



Cockrill says the home is a total loss and that authorities are still determining what caused the blaze, though he said it appears to be accidental.
