NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office says a fire that damaged 12 apartments in the New Castle area was accidental.

The Wilmington News Journal reports (https://delonline.us/2lVtqm9 ) that emergency crews responded to a blaze at the Castlebrook Apartments on S. Du Pont Highway at about 5 p.m. on Friday. Investigators say the fire started on a stovetop in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment, and smoke quickly spread throughout the apartment and the building’s hallways.

There were no injuries reported and the damages are estimated at around $200,000.
