CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a person has died in a Champaign house fire.

The Champaign News-Gazette (https://bit.ly/2mwF6bC) reports Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup was notified of the death after the fire was reported Friday morning.

The person hasn’t yet been identified.

Deputy Fire Marshal Randy Smith says investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire at the two-story home. It was reported by a person who passed by and smelled smoke.

Crews from Champaign and Urbana struck out the blaze early Friday morning.

Authorities say it’s the second fatal fire in two weeks. Earlier this month a 53-year-old woman died in a fire at a one-story home with no working smoke detectors.
