RENO, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a Reno-area motorist was rescued from frigid standing water after apparently driving past a barricade on a closed road.

KOLO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2lhmTP7 ) the motorist was found in Lemmon Valley late Thursday by a fire department battalion chief who was only in the area to see if he could get through in an emergency.

The road had been closed hours earlier.

Officials said the man was treated for hypothermia.
