GARNER, N.C. (AP) - A woman died and a 14-year-old passenger is in critical condition after a crash during a police chase in Garner.
Local media outlets report officers tried to stop 18-year-old Kawme McGregory for speeding at around 7 p.m. Thursday. Police say McGregory stopped but then sped off, and officers followed.
McGregory’s vehicle was in a crash with a white van. McGregory’s passenger, 25-year-old Shada Sahquea Taylor, died. The other driver, Shaun Dontay Jackson, and two children in the van were taken to the hospital. Police said one of the children, a 14-year-old, was in critical condition.
McGregory was also hospitalized, and his condition wasn’t known.
