WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) - Funeral arrangements have been set for a California police officer who was fatally shot after responding to a traffic accident.

A Whittier police spokesman says a public viewing will be held March 2 for Officer Keith Boyer.

It will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Whittier Area Community Church in Whittier.

A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. on March 3 at the Calvary Chapel Downey in Downey. He will be buried at a cemetery in Whittier.

Authorities say suspect Michael Christopher Mejia killed his cousin, crashed his cousin’s car, then fatally shot Boyer and wounded Officer Patrick Hazell when they responded to the accident.

Officials said Mejia remained hospitalized Thursday. It isn’t clear whether he has a lawyer who could comment on the allegations.
