NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities in Staten Island are cracking down on teenage bike riders who they say endanger themselves and drivers by performing tricks in the street.

Police say they arrested several boys for reckless riding and confiscated their bikes Tuesday night. Officials say the teen riders perform tricks as they ride into oncoming traffic.

The feats have garnered hundreds of complaints on a Facebook page from residents who fear for the safety of the teens.

Police say they are monitoring a planned “rideout” that may happen Thursday. Authorities say the gathering could attract dozens of bike riders and would create traffic problems.
