PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) - A man’s body has been found on a Portsmouth beach.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Peters tells WPRI-TV the man, who was wearing a wet suit, was discovered Wednesday morning at Teddy’s Beach.

Bruce White, the owner of Stone Bridge Marina, told The Newport Daily News that an empty kayak was found on the beach, down the shore from the man’s body. He says authorities were gathered there around 6 a.m.

Police say they are investigating.
