MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The superintendent of the Berlin Elementary School says students are OK after the school bus they were riding in was hit by a pickup truck.

Students and staff members were taken to the hospital after the crash in Montpelier on Tuesday.

School officials say the bus was carrying students on a field trip when it was rear-ended by the truck.



WCAX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2lDTqBZ ) that the driver of the pickup and several Berlin Elementary School students and staff were taken by ambulance to the hospital. The rest of the students were transported by another bus to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

The superintendent notified parents that all of the students, staff and parents riding on the bus were OK and released from the hospital by 1:15 p.m.
